How to check that a certificate is genuine

What it's for

Anyone can make a nice-looking PDF certificate in any editor. That is why every certificate issued in Cohorta has a public verification page that confirms the document really was issued, and to whom.

How to verify, step by step

1. Find the certificate number. It is printed on the document itself and looks like EXC-2026-XXXXXXXXXX.
2. Go to cohorta.co/cert/NUMBER, typing the number at the end of the address.
3. You will see the confirmation page.

You don't need an account or to log in. The page is public precisely so that a recruiter or HR department can open it.

What the verification page shows

• the message "This certificate is authentic",
• the full name of the person the document was issued to,
• the name of the completed course,
• the name and logo of the academy that issued it,
• the issue date and the certificate number.

If the number doesn't exist or the certificate has been revoked, the page shows "Invalid certificate". It doesn't distinguish between the two cases.

For the certificate holder

Share the link, not just the file. The file only proves that you have a file. The link proves that the document is genuine.

The link works well in a CV, on a LinkedIn profile and in a job application email. The verification page also has an "Add to LinkedIn profile" button. The link doesn't expire unless the certificate is revoked or the account is deleted, and the person opening it doesn't need an account.

What verification doesn't reveal

The page shows only what is listed above. It doesn't show your email address, quiz scores, progress, login dates or other courses you take.

Sharing the link doesn't give anyone access to your account.

The number doesn't work

• Retype the number. Apart from the EXC prefix it contains only digits and the letters A to F. Type it in capitals. A character that looks like "O" is always a zero.
• Check you haven't copied a space at the end.
• Ask the issuer whether the certificate has been revoked.

When to write to us

• You are an employer, the number looks correct, and the page finds nothing.
• You suspect someone is using a forged certificate with our logo.

Write to support@cohorta.pl with the number from the document and, if you have one, a photo or scan of the certificate.
