Getting started

How to create an account

From an empty browser to a working account. What to enter, what arrives by email and what to do if it doesn't.

Before you start, two words in plain English

Your account is you: your email address and password. You have one account, even if you learn at several different academies.

A workspace is an academy, a place run by a particular trainer or company. Courses, the community and events belong to the workspace, not to you. One account can belong to several workspaces, just as one email address can be subscribed to several newsletters.

You don't need an account to browse an academy's store. You only need one to get inside a course. If you buy a course without an account, one is created for you automatically. We explain this in the article on enrolling in a course.

Creating an account, step by step

  1. Go to cohorta.co/signup. You can also click "Create a free account" above the form on the login screen.
  2. Enter your full name. Other people in the community will see it.
  3. Enter your email address. Use one you actually have access to, because a message will arrive there in a moment. If you are buying a course for work, consider a personal address that will stay with you if you change jobs.
  4. Enter a password. It must be at least 8 characters long. Don't use a password you use anywhere else.
  5. Accept the terms of service and click "Create account". You will see the message "Account created." asking you to check your inbox.
  6. Open your inbox. A message from Cohorta with an activation link will arrive, usually within a few seconds.
  7. Click the link in the email. This is the step people skip most often. Without the click the account exists, but it won't let you in. Clicking the link logs you in straight away.

If you opened the link on a different device from the one you signed up on, go to cohorta.co/login and log in with the same email and password.

How you know it worked

After logging in you see either a list of academies ("Choose an academy") or the dashboard of one of them. If you don't belong to any academy yet, the list will be empty. That is normal: you join an academy through an invitation from a trainer or by enrolling in a course.

If something went differently

The email didn't arrive within five minutes. Check your Spam or Promotions folder. The most common cause is a typo in the address: gmial.com instead of gmail.com happens more often than you would think. Right after signing up, under the "Account created." message, there is a "Didn't get the link? Resend it" link. If the address has a typo, resending won't help, because it goes to the same wrong address. In that case sign up again with the correct address.

"An account with this email already exists." You already have an account with this email, probably from some time ago or created automatically when you bought something. Don't create a second one. Go to cohorta.co/login and click "Forgot your password?".

After clicking the link in the email you see the ordinary login screen. The link has probably expired or has already been used. Try logging in. If you are asked to confirm your address, write to us.

"Confirm your email address. The link is in the message from Cohorta." This message at login means you haven't clicked the link from step 7.

"Too many login attempts." After five login attempts for the same email address within fifteen minutes, further attempts are blocked for a while. This protects against password guessing, it isn't a penalty. Wait a quarter of an hour or set a new password straight away with "Forgot your password?".

You want to log in with Google. Click "Continue with Google" instead of typing a password.

When to write to us

  • The email doesn't arrive after two attempts and checking Spam, and the address is definitely correct.
  • You are sure the password is correct, but it still won't let you in after waiting fifteen minutes.

Write to support@cohorta.pl and include the email address you signed up with and the time of your last attempt. Without those two details we can't find your case in the logs.

Did this not solve it? Write to support@cohorta.pl and describe what you are trying to do.
