Getting started

Your first login: what now

You are in and don't know what to click. What you see on screen, what to set up straight away and what can wait.

What you see after logging in

The sidebar on the left is the navigation: Dashboard, Learning, Community, Events, Resources, Messages, Billing. What it contains depends on the academy and on your role, so don't be surprised if someone else has more items there.

At the bottom of the sidebar there is an Account section, collapsed by default. Click its name to expand it: it holds Settings, Public profile, My library and Help. The same shortcuts are in the menu under your name in the top right corner.

If you belong to several academies, there is a switcher with the current academy's name at the top of the sidebar.

The middle of the screen is the dashboard: courses in progress under "Continue learning" and upcoming events. If you are just starting, it will be empty, and that is normal, not an error.

Three things worth doing straight away

Together they take five minutes and save you trouble later.

1. Check your name. This is the name others see on your posts and comments. More importantly, this name goes on your certificate. If part of your email address is left here, the certificate will be issued to anna.k instead of Anna Kowalska. You change it in Settings, on the Profile tab, in the "Display name" field. The name is stored separately in each academy, so if you belong to several, check it in each one.

2. Add a photo. Optional, but conversations in the community go better with a face than with an initial. In Public profile, paste a link to a photo into the "Profile photo" field.

3. Check event reminders. In Settings, on the "General" tab, in the "Notifications" section, you decide whether you want an email 24 hours and one hour before an event. Both reminders are on by default.

What you DON'T need to do at the start

  • You don't need to buy anything to look around.
  • You don't need to fill in your whole profile. You can add a bio and links at any time.
  • You don't need to set up your own academy to learn in someone else's.

The most common surprises

The dashboard is empty. You don't have any courses yet. Go to Learning, and the "Catalogue" section shows what the academy offers.

I can't see a course I bought. Most often you are logged in with a different email address from the one used for the purchase, or you are in a different academy. We cover this in the article on workspaces.

I see fewer menu items than a colleague. The menu depends on your role. A learner sees less than a trainer, and that is intentional.

I changed my name, but the old one still shows. Refresh the page. Some views keep data in the browser's memory for a moment.

Changing your email address

Your email address is also your login, so changing it is more serious than it looks: access to your purchases is tied to it. If you need to change it, write to support@cohorta.pl from both addresses, the old and the new one, so we can be sure both belong to you.

When to write to us

  • You can't save changes to your profile and the form returns an error.
  • You want to change your account's email address.
  • Something on screen looks broken and refreshing doesn't help.

In your message include the academy name and, if possible, a screenshot. A screenshot halves the time it takes us.

Did this not solve it? Write to support@cohorta.pl and describe what you are trying to do.
