Quizzes and assignments

Two different things

A quiz marks itself. You answer, click "Submit quiz" and see your score straight away.

An assignment is marked by a person. You submit your work, and the trainer grades it later and can add a comment.

People mix them up most often when they wait for a quiz grade that will never come, because the quiz was graded the moment it was submitted.

How a quiz works

1. You open the quiz lesson. Before you start you see the number of questions, the passing score and, if the trainer set one, a time limit.
2. Click "Start quiz".
3. Answer the questions. Types: single choice, multiple choice, true/false, short answer and long answer.
4. Click "Submit quiz". Once submitted, your answers can't be changed in that attempt. If the quiz has a time limit, it submits itself when time runs out.
5. You see your score and, if the trainer added them, explanations for the questions.

The trainer sets the passing score for each quiz separately. There is no single value for the whole platform, so in one course you pass at 60 percent and in another only at 80.

The trainer also decides whether a quiz can be retaken. If retries are allowed, after a failed attempt you see a "Try again" button and can retake it as many times as you need. If they aren't, you get one attempt.

I failed a quiz, what now

If you see "Try again", simply take it again. You pass the quiz when any attempt reaches the passing score. The lesson is then completed for good, and there are no further attempts after a pass.

If there is no button, the trainer hasn't allowed retries. Write to them; they can allow retries in the quiz settings. We don't do this ourselves, because it is their teaching decision, not a technical matter.

Open questions in a quiz

If a quiz contains a short or long answer question, that part isn't marked automatically. You will see a message that your score is waiting for the trainer. The final score appears once the trainer has graded the rest.

This isn't an error. If your score changed a few days later, this is why.

Assignments

1. You open the assignment lesson and read the instructions.
2. You add a text answer, a file or both. The trainer can restrict file types and size, or require a text answer.
3. Click "Submit". There is no draft saving; your work is sent immediately. The status changes to "Submitted (awaiting grading)".
4. You wait for the grade. How long it takes depends on the trainer, not on the platform.

An assignment lesson only counts once the trainer approves your work. Submitting it isn't enough. If the course unlocks lessons in order, the next one opens after approval.

Can I correct an assignment I have submitted

Yes, until the trainer has graded it: send a new version with "Send a corrected submission". If the trainer returns your work with the status "Needs revision", you can submit it again too. Once graded, the work can't be changed.

I can't see my score

• Refresh the page. The most common cause.
• Check that you really clicked "Submit" and didn't close the tab halfway.
• For assignments: no score usually means the trainer hasn't marked it yet.

When to write to us and when to the trainer

To the trainer: allowing retries, asking to resubmit, questions about the assignment content, unmarked work, a score you disagree with.

To us, at support@cohorta.pl: the quiz won't open, submitting ends with an error, a file won't upload, the score shows as empty despite a passed quiz.

In short: teaching matters go to the trainer, technical ones to us.
