Gamification
Cohorta has built-in gamification that you switch on with a single toggle for the whole workspace. Members earn points for real activity (posts, comments, completed lessons and courses, event attendance, daily visits), move up levels, unlock badges and build streaks. A leaderboard shows the most active members. Everything is calculated on the server, with no third-party plugins.
How it works
Step 1
Switch gamification on
One toggle in the admin panel, per workspace. Points and levels start counting straight away, with nothing to configure by hand.
Step 2
Members earn points and levels
Post 10 points, comment 3, reaction received 1 (with a daily cap), lesson completed 20, course completed 100, event attended 25, daily visit 5. Levels rise with the points total, and anti-farming rules stop point padding.
Step 3
Badges, streaks and a leaderboard
Badges are awarded automatically when members meet the criteria (first post, mentor, streak master, marathon runner and more), and you can add your own. A streak counts consecutive days of activity. The leaderboard shows the most active members.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to configure anything for gamification to work?
No. Switch it on for the workspace and points for activity start counting automatically. Point values, level thresholds and the platform badges are ready to use. You can add your own badges if you want.
What exactly earns points?
A post (10), a comment (3), a reaction received (1, with a daily cap against point padding), a completed lesson (20), a completed course (100), an attended event (25) and a daily visit (5). The points total sets the member’s level.
How do badges work?
Platform badges (such as first post, active conversationalist, mentor, streak master and legend, marathon runner) are awarded automatically when members meet the criteria. Workspace administrators can also create their own badges and award them by hand.
Can gamification be switched off?
Yes, at any time, with the same toggle in the admin panel. While it is off, points are not counted and gamification disappears from members’ view.
